A Message from the South Croydon Benefice

Dear Friends

Allelula, Christ is risen!  He is risen ineed, Allelula.

Welcome to our website.  We are now in the joyful season of Eastertide and we are looking forward to the time when we can return to a full programme of services and events.

In the meantime our churches will continue to open as follows:

The Sunday 09:30 (St. Augustine's) and the 11:00 (St. Peter's)   will take place in person, with one of these posted to YouTube.

The Wednesday 10:00 (St. Peter's ) and Thursday 10:00 (St. Augustine's) Eucharists will also take place in person.

Please note:

The Sunday 08:00 service remains suspended.

Choral Music may be limited depending on the lastest regulations.

If you would like to attend in person, I would still encourage you to weigh up the risks and to follow the rules to the letter.  Do not feel any pressure to come to church, even if you would normally have a particular role in the service.

In particular, please remember:
  • Do not attend if you feel unwell.
  • Use hand sanitiser and wear a face covering (unless exempt).
  • Keep 2m distance at all times.
  • Only sit with members of your household / support bubble.
  • There should be only ONE household in each of the central pews at St Peter's, sitting towards the middle of the pew. This is so you are distanced from people in the side pews and those coming up for communion.  TWO individuals (or a couple and an individual) may sit at opposite ends of the side pews.
  • Do not mingle / chat with people from outside your household.

As I have said before, the last rule is probably the hardest, but also one of the most important in the fight against the virus.  If you want to chat, please consider calling someone later, or join our Zoom Coffee morning (Tuesdays at 11:00).  I am also very happy to speak to you on the phone!

Please be assured of our prayers for the whole community in this challenging time.

With every blessing
